Chaperone
Chaperone is the ultimate desktop control utility for both the home and office. Packed with features it is based on the premise that there are users who shouldn't have access to all installed programs all the time. It is ideal for parents wanting to control access to certain programs by minors or employers who need to control how their computer assets are used. Most common methods of controlling what programs users can run are based on preventing the program from being run at any time. Chaperone gives the added flexibility of enhancing this control by allowing an independent schedule for each program that defines when it can be run. These schedules can either take the form of allowing the program to run for a maximum number of hours per day or according to a defined schedule where individual of 15-min time periods can be set to either permit or deny access to the program. These schedules can also be password protected so authorized users can access them at any time. Chaperone can even be used to password protect the Windows Date/Time change dialog so the user can't override the schedule by simply resetting the computers date or time. In the home Chaperone is the perfect tool for parents wanting to prevent minors from excessive use of certain programs. For example, Chaperone can be used to limit access to games to a couple hours a day or Internet access to specific hours. Programs that are considered a risk can even be completely blocked. In the office Chaperone is the perfect tool to control how computer assets are utilized. Increased productivity can be achieved by limiting employee misuse of activities such as online chatting or music swapping, with the added benefit of being able to provide some flexibility to increase moral. For example, limited access to MSN chat and similar services could allow a schedule that permits them to run only during lunch hour or after work hours. You set the policy and Chaperone enforces it!!!!
