DBExplorer is a powerful database utility that allows you to compare any two databases and report the structural and data differences between them. It then enables you to synchronize the differences. This can be done with selected fields and data. DBExplorer works with any OLE DB or ODBC compliant database which includes all the mainstream databases including SQL server, Oracle, DB2, Access etc. Database Structure Differences DBExplorer compares the structure or metadata between two versions of a database. The objects compared include tables, columns, views, procedures, indexes and foreign and primary keys constraints. Once the comparison is complete DBExplorer presents a detailed on-screen summary. DBExplorer can automatically generate the appropriate SQL statements (ie, SQL DDL - Data Definition Language) to bring the database up to date. The entire comparison results can also be saved to a document file or printed out as a HTML report. Databases to compare do not have to reside on the same machine or even in the same RDBM system. Providing the database is accessible on the network via ODBC and/or OLE-DB DBExplorer can report the differences. This includes records that are identical, duplicated or having the same data but different keys as well as being present in only one of the databases. DBX also lets you browse a databases schema and/or data. This provides a built in reporting tool and an export to file feature so you can document the database schema and records. An SQL query wizard allows you to select particular columns and filter specific records. It can also generate SQL DDL scripts to reproduce or record the database structure. DBX avoids the time consuming process of reverse engineering a database and determining the changes required to bring it up to the latest version. With its powerful synchronization feature it saves time previously spent writing custom SQL upgrade scripts and allows easy identification and copying of specific records between
