AlarIT Virtual Serial Driver (AVSD)
AlarIT Virtual Serial Driver is appointed for emulation of one, two or more (up to 200) serial streams. Hardware devices are not necessary. This product is based on Windows XP DDK and doesn't require using devices of other manufacturers. The whole product is created with the help of Microsoft tooling. AlarIT Virtual Serial Driver realizes full emulation of Serial Port functions, connected with each other with the help of NULL-MODEM or full cable, including DTR, CTS, DSR, RTS. AlarIT Virtual Serial Driver can be interesting for software (for Windows Platforms) developers, who use external devices connected with computer by serial port. Also, it will be interesting for developers of the products appointed for connection of two or more computers through serial ports. Interface changes: Ergonomic tests and our clients' preferences result in the necessity to create a simple and comprehensive model of user interface. It has minimum settings and maximum functionality. The process of software installation is now completely automated. The documentation was improved and completed Kernel changes: All the system functioning is realized in kernel mode. It contributes not only to the system stability but also to the efficient working of the whole system. The quality of COM-ports signals emulation is considerably improved. Comparative tests AVSD 2.0 with null-modem cable showed that they are practically identical. Due to intellectual installer adding, the installation process now is absolutely clear both for user and the system. Due to the seamless integration of the component with the Device Manager, the adding of all the necessary drivers to the system is realized automatically without a user's interference. AVSD API is reported to include the certain number of new functions, which are likely to be of great interest to individual software developers.
