JContent
JContent is a server-side EJB component for flexible content and document management for J2EE. It allows end-users to define the structure of documents stored in a relational database and render the documents in various presentation formats. It provides services to define document metadata, tag data in a document (as in XML), manage document access control, organize documents in folders, and perform keyword searches on the content. It supports full internationalization, allowing you to maintain multiple localized versions of a document with multilingual content. JContent shortens the development cycle, reducing tedious database and web programming. It eliminates layers of code required to maintain the database structure, SQL queries, access control and web rendering, allowing you to focus on the business logic of your applications. The JContent package includes a collection of EJB session and entity beans and a web component, known as JContent Console. The EJB components are designed to run on a single J2EE server or a cluster of J2EE servers. You reuse JContent by coding to its EJB interfaces. It provides easy-to-use APIs to define Guides (an innovative method to define flexible content structure that persists in the database), metadata, documents, data links among tags, folders to organize content, permissions, search parameters and executed searches, layouts to render documents, mapping to transform XML documents, and mapping to automate data loading. These services enable user-defined content structure and users to collaborate in sharing information in your applications. Moreover, it also provides methods to define and store multiple localized versions of content documents, thus enabling the use of multilingual content, including double-byte data. The console is a browser-based application that allows you to view and edit documents in the system. It includes a Layout Editor that you can use to create layouts for rendering a document differently.
